2016 holiday season is drawing to a close and I can’t say I’m not ready for a month of rest in January! It’s been such a treat working with lovely families. Here’s a sneak peek at a session I did this evening. Get ready to swoon! Loved this flower crown.
And the award for “Most Photogenic Family” goes to. . . The Rooses! Ahh – feeling SO thankful for all the wonderful people I get to connect with through my work.
We are celebrating Thanksgiving in FL this week I’m so glad Cathy and Khoa asked me to be a part of their pregnancy announcement. They do everything so stunningly!
I re-created a scene Cathy loved from my daughter’s session in Austin and the lighting was just as glorious. They were up for anything, from traipsing a golf course to trespassing a vacant lot, and they did it in fab style. Speaking of style, I don’t think anyone’s wardrobe, swagger or style can rival this soon-to-be Big Brother’s. He is a character and I can’t wait to hear/see how he much loves the new addition. Heart them!

What do two DC transplants, their two boisterous boys, and one Texas “faux fall” day make? In the case of the Traweek family, they make for one beautiful Austin children’s photography session.
Ziem did a newborn session for baby brother Teddy nearly two years ago, just after the family’s move to Austin. Look at him now!
This energetic group loves nothing more to sign and hold impromptu dance parties in their kitchen. In fact, Ziem knows them as the “House of Fun”, and that zest for life comes across in their photos! For starters, Teddy was more interested in being the center of attention than being held for family photos. He would alternate between flirting with the camera, dancing, and evading capture. This one definitely takes after his daddy #cantholdmedown!
On the other hand, big brother Thomas is sweet and happy-go-lucky like his mama. He was eager to please and smile at everyone. In fact, Ziem still recalls a story from Teddy’s newborn session about how Thomas won the heart of the seller of their Austin home.
Finally, remember how we mentioned this shoot occurred on a Texas “faux fall” day? The poor Traweeks had dressed well for fall weather, only to have the temperature rise a sweltering 15 degrees during the shoot! Texas temperature swings aside, however, the Traweeks’ kept their sunny attitudes throughout the shoot.
In the end, Ziem adored working with this House of Fun crew. She hopes it won’t be as long before they get to do it again!

From engagement to wedding, from maternity portraits to newborn sessions, Ziem has been with the Escobeda family every step of the way. In fact, they’ve formed such a bond that the Escobedas drive all the way from Dallas, stay in Round Rock, then drive another hour to work with Ziem! Those years of collaboration and they comfort level they bring show in their photos.
This year was a busy one for the Escobedas, between various school, career, and family demands, so they were ready to treat themselves to a special photo shoot at a favorite park. Mama Liz especially wanted a shot of just her and her husband Brian. Ziem was able to capture a special moment of their love.
The Escobedas welcomed precious baby brother Luke this year. Precious Luke wasn’t strong enough for solo photos yet, however, so big sister Natalie snuggled him (under close supervision!) for a few sweet snaps.
One of Ziem’s favorite aspects of working with young children is seeing their sense of wonder. For example, Luke seemed to notice grass for the first time during this shoot and became mesmerized. Ziem turned what could have proved a challenge into a plus, though. In the end she was able to snap some of the terrific solo shots Liz requested. Is there anything better than that innocent sense of wonder?
This family’s love has been evident from the very beginning. Ziem is honored to have been included in their milestones along the way – and across the miles!
