I did this session some time ago and feel terrible about just now sharing it with you. These two kids are seriously, out-of-this-world gorgeous. And if you see their stunning parents, you’d know how and why!

B is for Big Brother – better than being a superhero.
Couldn’t resist sharing one of my favorites from earlier today.

Two of the most darling girls reached another milestone recently – six months – Where did the time go?
I can’t say I’ve ever met any babies other than these two who greet the world with sweet, gummy smiles the way they do despite the hour, place, or circumstance (i.e. older sibling with chronic middle-of-the-night terrors).
We had a fun impromptu half birthday celebration with one half of a birthday cake, pizza and cookies for the wilder and crazier older siblings. Fun times! Look forward to sharing many more together!

I have been waiting so long for this day to finally come; Melissa, the last of our Mommy Mafia, is having number two! Pregnant women like her make me nostalgic about pregnancy. And envious. Can’t we all be this glowing and gorgeous in Trimester III?!
Derby-themed shower. Check. Maternity session. Check. Baby name — well when you’re dealing with two lawyers, there’s bound to be dutiful deliberation. Whatever they decide on, I know it will be preppy, beautiful.
We absolutely adore this family and cannot wait to meet that baby {and Zara’s future BFF}. And you KNOW she’ll make her little debut here first, so stay tuned! xo

Tea (n.) a hug in a cup.
Off to FL, but couldn’t resist sharing just one!
Happy weekend!! xo

Annual super-sappy posting….
Mom is always the first person I call on Mother’s Day. This morning she told me she’d be joining her sisters at my aunt’s house for a dinner specially prepared by all of their sons. {Well if that isn’t the sweetest start to your day….} Today I’m celebrating some of the things I’m most thankful for -
My grandmothers, the queens of my heart,
for mothering my parents with love and devotion.

My Mother and friend, the one who gave me life,
for her demonstration of love, generosity and great work.

My husband and children, givers of this gift of motherhood,
the reason my heart smiles from sun to sun.

My favorite tradition, Mother’s Day Brunch at the Four Seasons,
for four years of a full tummy and heart.

My city I love, home of the most amazing resort spa,
for being just a stones throw away.

Better – a very well-orchestrated, surprise limo ride away…
feel free to outdo yourselves next year, fellas {we wouldn’t mind it}.

My Mommy Mafia, owners of these cute chicklets and brunch companions,
for sharing this journey with their wisdom and wit.

Hope all you moms and moms-to-be enjoyed a day full
of sunshine and smiles!! Xo

You may recognize a few of these happy faces; I did a family portrait session for the Kirsches back in Fall of 2011 not long after I had the pleasure of doing Big Sister’s first birthday photos.
It was so nice to get them in front of the camera again as they welcomed the newest, cuddliest, and most precious addition to the family. {I also enjoyed being in their amazing new home and seeing my work sprinkled around their nest.} So far, in the few weeks of his tiny existence, this little guy has managed to make their love a wee bit stronger, nights a lot longer, and days way shorter, all the while making a home SO much happier.
I personally adore and love this family so it was such a pleasure to capture images they’ll hopefully hang on their walls and create memories they’ll cherish for generations to come. Not to mention, I think I’ve found a new home for future portrait sessions. Their backyard – talk about AMAZING!

I finally got to photograph this sweet little guy yesterday.
Cannot wait to share the rest!

A little back story – this groom-to-be’s cousin, Thu, and I grew up attending the same church. The last time I saw her, we were in high school. You can imagine my delight when I heard from her as inquired about me traveling to Houston for this shoot. A reunion AND a surprise proposal photos? I said YES and we began strategizing immediately.
Lauren thought she was traveling from Minnesota to Houston for a quick weekend visit with her boyfriend’s family and friends. She was also only partially right when she thought she would be going to the park on Friday evening for a family portrait session. Little did she know, a big surprise proposal had been in the works for some time and everyone else was in on it. You can imagine the excitement as they awaited the big moment from the sideline. Everything happened so quickly and I’m so glad I was able to capture these moments from afar.
These two are the sweetest and I have never found myself hugging clients so much during a shoot!!
Congratulations Lauren and Quy. Lauren, I know you will make one stunning bride
And thank you, Thu, for making sure this moment will be remembered forever.

Today, I thought, would be a superb day for an impromptu bluebonnet photo session. As soon as our songbirds rose from their naps, we got them dressed and quickly found ourselves parked atop the perfect patch of wildflowers.
After the third frame – oh no! – sister Big vomits all over herself, the blanket, and little z. But not before we were handed the messiest diaper in the history of le petit blow outs. {Further proving the Photographer’s Child Syndrome theory}. Great memories were made.
Cheers to a happy Monday and healthy babies! xo

I am waking up in approximately 5 hours for a shoot {JOY!}, but thought I’d check in on the blog and share a few favorites from a recent session.
We began planning this one with a series of e-mails and text messages discussing location, time/date, and weather along with general chattiness one would expect when photographing a fellow photographer and her family. {That’s right — all fun, no pressure around here.}
Several days before the scheduled date, we were advised a cold front would be coming through, and we couldn’t decide whether to reschedule or go for it. I am always prepared for unpredictable behavior with children and weather, and so I was ready to work as fast as possible!
Those dimples. Very cute or a lot of cute? I agree!

I met Hannah and Keith at a tacky Christmas sweater party two years ago and it’s a shame we haven’t had the opportunity to see each other since! They were a delight to work with and such wonderful parents to their two lovely children.
Baby Claire was the star of our session and was she ever the peaceful and easy baby to photograph?! I look forward to seeing more of this sleeping beauty in the coming months as we continue to document her tiny life.

Being a part of this family means you are part of something very wonderful.

I had the fortunate opportunity to hop across the pond recently – not before a bit of airline drama, of course – to capture memories of this beautiful assemblage. I’m so glad the stars aligned; I loved being there and being with this amazing clan.
Do come back for more!
Happy New Year! First and foremost, please forgive me for the quietness around here {I do realize I failed to blog about 20 or so sessions in 2012 and if you’re one of the clients, please do not kick me off your Christmas card list!} Among the many exciting moments this past year, my most favorites were: the blessing of my marriage, the birth of my second child and the new title I’ve acquired - ‘international photographer’.
Our renewal took up all of Q1 and I found out shortly after I was pregnant with baby #2. I will spare you details of my pregnancy and birth, but I must say traveling to Belize was a great end to my maternication last week and, together with my little family {latest joiner included}, we ended the year just right.
For over half a decade now, I have renounced resolutions and, alternatively, I have instead chosen a quote at the start of the new year. Togetherness – my general pledge or intention for the next twelve months. Being a mom is rewarding but not without sweat and hard work. Finally, after the universe told me three times in the last few weeks, “The days are long but the years are short“, I realized I need to put forth more effort to entertain family and friends, schedule HH’s with the girls, and sneak out for date nights with the hubby.
What do you guys vow to do in 2012? Hugs and cheers to new beginnings! Love and happiness to everyone everywhere. I look forward to many many more blessings in the new year!

Ziem

I shot Suzanne and Jairy’s “Something Green” wedding last month at Springdale Farm and I’m finally ready to share the first set of images! You may remember them from their summer engagement session.
The couple set out to “reuse, reduce, recycle” as much as possible that day and their lifestyle was reflected perfectly in every gorgeous detail. Making it a point to stay away from retail stores as much as possible, Suzanne and Jairy used re-purposed plates, jars, plates and wine bottles for their wedding and reception decor. Card stock was donated for their invitations and napkins were made out of fabric swatches.
It was a beautiful day to be on the farm and I felt extremely blessed to be there and capture their love. The bride and groom are amazing individuals from wonderful families and I foresee a lifetime of happiness and friendship between the two.
