It’s a common occurrence in these iPhone times. Many couples only have a professional quality photo of themselves (ok, *any* photo of themselves) from their wedding. Come family photo time, however, Ziem makes sure that Mom & Dad get in the picture too.
Ziem and Lyra Powell met one another through that hotspot of mom socializing – preschool – and have been friends ever since. Ziem jumped at the chance to work with her and her gorgeous family when fall mini-session arrived.
When it came to shoot location, Mama Lyra had a specific outdoor spot in mind. Unpredictable Texas fall weather being, well, unpredictable, mini-session season coincided with weeks of rain this year. Rather than shoot in an alternate location, Ziem rescheduled so that the Powells could achieve their rustic vision, complete with rolling hills and dreamy sunset light. The wait was worth it.
Matt and Lyra are such kind, loving people, and their children are a reflection of that. These well-mannered and calm kids proved a delight throughout the shoot, with big sis Lauren regaling Ziem with family history throughout.
In addition to the kid photos, Ziem snapped some keepsake-worthy shots of just Matt and Lyra. The two of them hadn’t had a professional shoot done since – you guessed it – their wedding.
As for wardrobe, the Powells heeded Ziem’s expert advice to dress not for a holiday card, but for where you want the photos to hang in your home. They went traditional, neutral, and fall, all of which complements their house.
If this is all sounding too perfect, there was one #reallife moment – poor little brother James got a nasty bruise just before the shoot . The Powells proceeded with the session regardless, and Ziem worked her Fauxtoshop magic after to erase the booboo away. She couldn’t resist including some originals with bruise included for sake of comparison and posterity, though. Boys!
Ziem was honored to work her friends the Powells and provide them with treasured keepsakes – of the two of them and the four of them!
