Austin Photographer: Tara + Noah

First, I’d like to thank Tara’s father for his generous bid of over $500 for a photo package I donated to the recent Christian Outreach Foundation Silent Auction. If you haven’t heard about this amazing non-profit, they provide free after school guidance to underprivileged children whose parents lack the resources to do so themselves. And the co-founder, Liz, is such a doll and a pleasure to work with; I’ve promised to donate to them again next year.

I can’t get enough of Tara and Noah, which is evidenced by the number of images I have to share with you all. This couple is simply fabulous and they undoubtedly furthered my already fanatical obsession with red lipstick, suspenders, big tops, and red & white stripes. How fitting was it that I would meet them just before one big, obnoxious birthday carnival? I smiled. I chuckled, especially after we were ejected from private property {a rite of passage}. My heart sang. And in the split second of meeting this twosome I felt so grateful and fortunate to be doing what I love- and that is meeting and photographing beautiful people!

Austin Family Lifestyle Photography

Family is a craftsman’s best piece of work. A rather successful one requires a lot of hand-in-hand and growing together as one. It is a work of art that requires immeasurable patience, hard work and love. Earlier today, I was blessed to photograph a great example of family. They recently welcomed Baby C – adopted just a few weeks ago out of state – into their loving home. It’s obvious she is loved by brothers, parents and grandparents to call her forever own. Continue on to see more from their Austin family lifestyle photography session.

Tara contacted me just last week after having “poured over many photos” before stumbling upon my website. We instantly connected and chatted for a while, surprised our paths had not yet crossed. They spend half the year away so I’m glad the stars aligned today. Grandparents arrived earlier that morning, the weather was perfect and the boys were a joy to work with. I almost didn’t want to leave. . . but they had some bribes to cash in post-shoot.

There are so many first in the life of a new parent – for starters, baby’s first smile, first photoshoot, and Mom’s first text in the middle of the night when she’s up for a feeding (again). For the Aseron family, these firsts came doubled in the form of adorable boy twins.

Austin Child Photographer Family Lifestyle Aseron Mini Sessions Ziem PhotographyIt was actually one of those late night mom texts that resulted in Tara and Ziem connecting. Tara is the sister-in-law of dear friends and clients of Ziem’s. The twins were just over one year old, so Ziem was particularly happy to capture that sweet, special time in their lives. This shoot marked the first time any of the family had done a photo session. Ziem was honored to be involved with their initial one!

The Aserons’ love of art, style, and family came across in every frame. Tara requested an urban shoot setting, including striking Austin architecture, to complement their preferences. Their casual, neutral outfits, punctuated by Dad’s red plaid, looked timeless yet contemporary against the industrial backdrop.

While Twin L was happy to quietly observe the goings on, adventurous Twin T ran like the wind. Ziem got her cardio for the day keeping up, and the entire bunch was in tears laughing by the end.

The joy of this family really struck Ziem. This shoot was largely unscripted, with the happy Aserons just loving on their boys for most of the time. This candid, carefree approach allowed Ziem to capture some totally organic, very “them” moments.

There’s no time like the first time, and Ziem is thrilled she was part of the Aserons’ first photo experience! Here’s to more fun shoots (or, to Twin T, track meets) to come! Check out a few of my recent sessions in this same location below.

10 Days of Sharing: Pay It Forward

How to give great gifts? Let me count the ways.. From now until Christmas, at random, I’ll be bringing to you “Ten Days of Sharing” here on my blog. I can’t spill the egg nog but a little elf told me there will be holiday design layouts and a one hour portrait session thrown in somewhere, so be sure to check back!

Perhaps it came from our neighboring Dallas, responding to the news of Lamar Odom/Chloe Kardashian/E!’s impending move, or it was the sudden jolt after an epiphany I had while running around the lake with my husband as I sang along to Rihanna, but let me go ahead and apologize to all of you  {and your tea cups} for the unexpected quiver yesterday. While I have certainly prepared for the holidays – shopping underway, Christmas cards mailed last week, wardrobe finally winterized – I realized 3 miles into my run that I have only donated one portrait package to an Austin non-profit in 2011 {which helps the organization raise money through a silent auction} and rudimentary math tells me that if I want to keep up with years past I better find four beneficiaries. Stat!

So to truly get in the spirit of the season and avoid the title Bad Santa than a little giveaway, one inspired by a blogger extraordinaire who happens to be a part of my Austin “Mama Mafia”. She’s a retired lawyer and a buddy of mine happens to be a detective, so if either of the two hold your entry suspect, it is grounds for elimination.

I will donate $50 to a charity of one reader’s choice, given these parameters:

  1. Leave a comment naming the charity and its mission.
  2. Charity must be a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.
  3. Entries close on Sunday, December 18th at 11:59 pm CST and a winner will be selected via a True Random Number Generator.
  4. Winner will be announced on my blog Monday, December 19th.

If you decide to follow suit, let me know and I will be happy to spread the news via my blog.

And how could this entry be complete without a photo of my Royal Diva? Notice the Halloween toy which made a very inconsiderate appearance in my would’ve been Christmas card photo.

Here’s the concept – I will be making one $50 donation to the charity of one reader’s choice, in the name of whomever you designate, given the following guidelines:

Thanks, Royal Wedding, For the Free Day Off.

I met Tara and Noah for a portrait session on South Congress yesterday and I could not resist posting just one image immediately. Today and I have not been so good to each other so I thought playing around with one photo might abstract my unsettled nerves. I love Tara’s combination of red lips, blonde hair and jet black liner. Not a look I could ever pull off but it suits her quite well! Now let me go back to sleep and try today all over again when I wake up.
