Baptism in Florida

We just returned from a nice trip to Florida where baby got to meet family for the first time. It was so good to be home again and have my mom and sisters within arms reach as it afforded us some extra sleep time. Tulsi was definitely spoiled after having been held and loved so much for an entire week. I was very sad the day we had to take her away. The most important part of our trip was having her baptized in the same church where I grew up, and received my baptism, first communion and confirmation. Thanks to everyone who made it out to celebrate the christening of our daughter!

Just in case you’re wondering..there were no tar balls on the beach. We did not make it into the ocean but we managed to enjoy a gorgeous sunset.

I have several photos to share for now. More from my mini-sessions to follow. We are already missing everyone back home and we cannot wait for our next visit.

Four generations!

Our amazing families.

No more “original sin”!

Neiri Family

I had the pleasure of photographing the Neiris in their lovely Sunset Valley home. It had been a few months since I’ve had the opportunity to do family portraits so I was very much looking forward to this one. Carly requested images of her daughter and husband interacting with one another and she wanted it done soon before Juliana started crawling and we were not able to keep up. What would you know…from the time the session was booked to the morning I arrived, someone had learned how to crawl and started cutting teeth! Juliana was not her bright and cheery self that morning (as per mom and dad) but she was never fussy at all. She looked so sweet in her little outfits, especially the purple dress and blanket handmade by Carly’s mother.

Thanks, Carly and Phil, for having me over. I enjoyed spending the morning with you all and look forward to one-year photos in the fall!

Monica + Neil = Engaged

Monica and Neil are getting married in Dallas in August and they decided last minute to have some engagement photos made. I’m so glad they found me and that we were able to squeeze this in before their big day.

We started the session with the bride-to-be in a sari, and what adventures await when you step out of the confines of eastern fashion. Let me give Monica credit where it is due for wearing yard upon yard of heavily embroidered material with pleats tucked into her waist and some fabric draped over her shoulder, all in the Austin heat, while looking casually cool. I thought this location would work well for lifestyle photos and that we would sneak our way in for as many shots possible before being removed by the owner.

Next, we ventured over to Fado where the couple first met three years ago. Here’s where I captured some of my favorites from the session.

Then we headed over to this mural I’d been eying for quite some time. I was waiting for the right couple and Monica’s dress couldn’t have been any more perfect.

Congrats, again, Monica and Neil. I enjoyed spending the afternoon with you both!

Midnight Madness

It’s almost midnight in Austin. I should be exhausted- lots of (exciting) things going on in my life and I have never worked harder on such little sleep – but I cannot seem to shut off the day. Two weeks ago, four years to the day my brother passed away, we welcomed a sweet little girl into this world. We are totally smitten; she has stolen our hearts and changed our world forever. We mailed an announcement to our families last week and I wanted to be sure they had received it before sharing it with my bloggers… so here it is.

Meet Baby Tulsi! And feel free to share any tips you may have for a first-time mom.

A Dash of Pink

Hello world! I am 39 weeks today and still no sign of baby.

Before we make a run downtown for Car2Go’s public launch and enjoy some food, sun and music I thought I’d share two photos from my early morning sessions. Nothing beats crawling in grass and climbing park benches with two pretty little girls in your pregnant glory. There is something about pink tulle that I cannot resist.

There’s more to come. Have a great weekend all!
