Fall Mini-Photo Session

How does a mini session differ from a full session?
Regular photo sessions are sixty to ninety minutes in length and at the location of your choice. Mini sessions are conducted at a specific location chosen by the photographer and are twenty-five minutes in length.

May I book multiple mini sessions together?
You may book two consecutive sessions. In fact, it is recommended but not required that you book multiple sessions if you have three or more children. Add $40 to any package for a full fifty-minute session.

How do I sign up for a mini session?
Please contact Ziem at 850.319.4591 or send a note to info@ziemphotography.com to schedule your time slot.

What if it rains or the weather is bad on the day of our mini session?
In case of inclement weather, mini photo sessions will be rescheduled for Saturday, October 30th. When booking your session, please make sure that you are able to attend both the planned date and the rain date. Session fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. If there are any questions about weather, please call 850.319.4591.

What should we wear?
Anything vibrant and fun will pop and photograph beautifully. Try pairing deep, rich, or intense colored tops with neutral bottoms. Avoid black and white. Coordinated looks for families create much more pleasing photographs than matching uniforms for the entire family. A unified color mixed with the neutrals in various ways will mix things up but still give your family continuity. To add visual interest: use patterns, textures (dark denim, cable knits, linen, corduroy), and layers (cardigans, scarves). Whatever you choose, it is important the entire family looks and feels comfortable so make sure everyone tries on their outfit beforehand.

What happens after the mini session?
Images will be ready for preview and ordering one week after your photo session. Orders will ship two weeks thereafter.

A Sneak Peek: Parker+Humfleet Wedding

I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph the Parker-Humfleet wedding in Panama City Beach last weekend. The day brought on clouds and scattered showers, but this did not faze our amazing bride. I couldn’t wait to share a few of my favorites with you all. Be sure to check back for the sequel!

Family Beach Portraits

I haven’t fallen off, really. I thought I would cut back on work from end of June to late August so I could focus on Baby and all the tasks being a mommy brings. The decision was brought on in the early times- that first month when brushing my teeth and showering before noon was incomprehensible. But now, we are on a predictable schedule and our mornings are quite productive. We even manage two standing play dates each week (never to soon to start the social circle). How lucky am I? My little Tulsi made three months yesterday and I find her to be the most fascinating thing I’ve ever seen. When I’m feeding her, she stares intently and I like to think the fascination is purely mutual. She’s amazing and I could really go on…

They say time flies when you’re having fun. Now that September is here I can finally catch up on all my outstanding blog entries and start shooting again. I’m so excited to be back and looking forward to all the exciting shoots I have scheduled for the next two months!

Mel and I have been friends since freshman year in high school. We met in sewing class (was it?) and from there we went to homecoming dances together, shared many classes and unfortunately she was in the passenger seat during my first car accident. Though distance may come between old friends and visits become brief and very few and far in between, I know Mel is a friend I’ll always have. I was delighted to do her family portraits during my last trip back home in Florida.

It was so nice to see them again and catch up. This little guy is just something else. You don’t want to forget his face; he will be running this place some day…

Easy Like Sunday Morning

What a fun morning, I met the Quinns for family portraits in the park. It just so happened to be a popular location for outdoor photos; there were at least five other sessions going on at the same time. I enjoyed seeing all the families, babies and couples out there smiling and having fun for the camera. Not the least of which was the Quinn family, the most easy-going couple with such well-behaved kids (a reflection of two amazing parents). Charlotte and Ian were a little camera shy at first but after one brief stroll down a trail, flower picking and a peacock sighting later I got a great set of images.

I leave every session excited about my work but I captured a very candid moment of Charlotte and Pat that made me glow inside and proud to say I love what I do! I feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to create memories that will be cherished for many years to come. This is hands down my new favorite photo.

Mimi and Pat, thanks for allowing me to photograph this time in your lives and for dealing with the Texas heat on a Sunday morning. I cannot wait to share the rest!

Kim and Dustin are Tying the Knot!

There are some couples who do not need encouragement for a little kissy-kissy in front of the camera. Such is the case with the lovely two I had the fortune and grace to shoot most recently.

I could tell by the tone of Kim’s initial e-mail to me that this was going to be an exciting afternoon shoot. Kelly from All About Diamonds, who also helped my husband with my engagement ring, pointed Kim in my direction for engagement photos. Anyone Kelly would recommend is immediately my kind of bride. Kim & Dustin turned out to be my kind of couple. The warm connection they share is so incredible a brutally hot summer day in Austin couldn’t scare them from having fun or dancing. I was solicited for save the date photo ideas and after hearing “country chic” I immediately suggested “rope” and “tie the knot”. So glad Kim loved the idea of playing on words. It turned out to be the perfect prop after all.

Engagement portrait sessions are my absolute favorite. Nothing beats the enthusiasm and bliss of a newly engaged couple. I always have fun and in this case I came quite close to having too much fun. Kim and Dustin, I hope you enjoy your engagement party in Dallas. Can’t wait to get together again when we trash the dress!!
